"The Road Goes on Forever" by Fates Warning Its so cold in the shadow of distant lights and the chilling wind slows our pace and tests our will Still a voice whispers it will be over soon and there we find the courage to climb the hill Sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going fanned by a flame I can't remember But distant lights still burn bright and the road goes on forever Year after year with renewed ambition we scale the walls to find there's nothing there Still idle hands clutch the empty page with the passion of a desperate prayer Sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going fanned by a flame I can't remember But distant lights still burn bright and the road goes on forever And here we are again the doors close behind us and the road goes on and on and on and on... Sometimes I lose sight of where i'm going fanned by a flame I can't remember But distant lights still burn bright and the road goes on forever... ---- Streets, highways, bi-ways, freeways, cross-roads -- we have as many names for roads it seems as Eskimos have for snow. Roads are so much part of our culture it is hard to imagine a time when they did not dominate and scar our landscape. Beyond a means for us to get from point A to point B, roads also have come to represent journey's of the mind, spirit, and life itself. They have become part of our collective consciousness and culture, resonating from books ("On the Road"), music (Further on Down the Road"), and daily vernacular ("The road goes on forever"). Here are some works that stretch the notion of what a road is. Please support the artists that created these wonderful pieces by faving and commenting on their artworks. A sampling of these works are part of a news story I submitted http://news.deviantart.com/article/89408/
